Original Gangsters (of Poetry): Gerald Costanzo & Charles Seluzicki

June 29 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Join us for the Portland launch of Gerald Costanzo’s Regular Haunts: New and Previous Poems He will be joined in conversation by Charles Seluzicki.

Gerald Costanzo is one of the best contemporary poets of satire. Born and raised in Portland, Costanzo is a graduate of Harvard and Johns Hopkins University.  He has been a professor of English at Carnegie Mellon University since 1970 and is the founding director of Carnegie Mellon University Press. He is the author of nine collections of poems, editor of five poetry anthologies, and a two time Pushcart Prize winner. His newest collection, Regular Haunts, tackles the mythic landscape of America itself: the transitory, popular, consumer culture of late twentieth- and early twenty-first-century life. This retrospective collection of Costanzo’s work includes nearly thirty new poems.

Charles Seluzicki will be reading recent elegies and elegiacally themed poems. He is an antiquarian bookseller with a specialty in rare first edition poetry. He is a publisher and an adjunct professor in the graduate publishing program at Portland State University. In 2006 the Collins Gallery hosted an exhibition celebrating his 30 years as a fine press publisher. He lives in Portland.
