Readings: Gabriel Hart, Keats Ross & Amie Althaea
June 30 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Join us for readings from Gabriel Hart, Amie Althaea, and Keats Ross.
Gabriel Hart’s Nothing To See Here is his first foray into High Desert Anti-Tourism Propaganda. The story chronicles a well-meaning couple’s descent into insanity in the Morongo Basin. Convinced they were escaping Los Angeles for a better, more humble life in the desert, the couple is caught off guard to learn that trouble not only follows, but takes permanent residence in the deepest trenches of our psyche.
Los Angeles expat Gabriel Hart is the ringleader of the seven-piece punk Wall of Sound group Jail Weddings. His debut novel Virgins In Reverse / The Intrusion will be published by Rare Bird Books in Fall 2018. In the wake of his two chapbooks Cinema of Life (2016) and Nothing To See Here (2017), the two novelettes will help construct his serialized desert-noir novel Lies of Heaven, to be released unabridged by Space Cowboy in 2019. Hart’s more erogenous prose appeared in Dutch artist Van Rijn’s book of erotic art In The Woods & On The Hearth, alongside passages by Aleister Crowley, Paul Eluard, and Luis Aragon. Hart has also recently had works published in Cholla Needles, the Howl 2018 Anthology, and will appear in the Desert Writers Guild Anthology. Hart is also regular contributor to L.A. Record, a Los Angeles underground music publication.
Keats Ross, of Dakota Slim, will be reading from his Gonzo-occult journal, The Narrows.
Amie Althaea will be reading from her debut short story collection Heart Rot.
