W. Scott Howard, Jennifer Denrow, Jesse Morse

July 21, 2017 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Friday, July 21, we’re excited to welcome three poets from Colorado home to Portland–well, at least two are coming home. Join us for readings, wine, and cheese.

W. Scott Howard teaches poetics and poetry in the Department of English and Literary Arts at the University of Denver. Scott worked at Powell’s Books (1990-93) where he co-managed (with Vanessa Renwick) the Small Press & Journals section, the dewclaw reading series, the prism interdisciplinary discussion series, and also managed the Critical Theory section. He is the founding editor of Reconfigurations: A Journal for Poetics & Poetry / Literature & Culture. His collections of poetry include the e-book, Ropes (with images by Ginger Knowlton) published by Delete Press in 2014; and Spinnaers (The Lune, 2016). Scott lives in Englewood, CO and commutes year-round by bicycle.

Jennifer Denrow wrote California (Four Way, 2011). She has a PhD from the University of Denver and teaches online a lot. She goes to the ocean.

Jesse Morse holds a PhD in Creative Writing from the University of Denver. He currently teaches teenagers Language Arts at DePaul Treatment Center in Portland, Oregon. Recent poems appeared in Page Boy and Colorado Review. A recent review appeared in Denver Quarterly. He plays guitar and sings in The Whirlies. His greatest accomplishment was marrying the poet Jennifer Denrow and creating a human named Wren, who just told him “Mom has a secret for you. It’s a lion and a strawberry on your head.”
